Poudenas – 300 m
Poudenas
At the point where the Landes, the Armagnac and the Pays d’Albret, Poudenas is built on a hill in the Gélise valley. Start your walk on the old romanesque bridge which gives you a panoramic view over the village: you can take in the old coaching inn, with its first-floor gallery held by arcades, and the houses creeping up the hill.
Take the old Streets of Poudenas to reach the romanesque Church with its square steeple. By arrangement with your hosts, Jean and Alix, you can visit the main building of the village, the Château, the former residence of the Lords of Poudenas. Your stpes will finally lead you to the Park behind the Château, with its numerous specimen trees.
Several other routes and trails for ramblers will allow you to discover other sites in the Pays d’Albret : in particular, you admire 2 half-timbered dovecotes on the way to Arbussan.
Le coin de Marie C. An authentic welcome at Marie C. and at Café Galerie, under the arcades, for coffee, tea, lunch or dinner. Sale of regional products and craftwork, carefully selected by Marie Claude. Located at the bottom of the village of Poudenas, and facing the banks of the Gélise, this countrified concept-store is popular with locals as much as holidaymakers looking for authenticity. 06 19 60 05 70
